Supplications of a sick person who has lost hope of life

اَللّٰهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِيْ وَارْحَمْنِيْ وَاَلْحِقْنِيْ بِالرَّفِيْقِ الْاَعْلٰى

O Allah, forgive me, have mercy on me and join me with the Highest Companion.

At the time of his death, the Prophet ﷺ would put his hands in water, wipe them over his blessed face and say this supplication: ” لَآ اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللّٰهُ اِنَّ لِلْمَوْتِ سَكَرَاتٍ.“ “There is no deity except Allah; indeed, death has many agonies.”

لَآ اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللّٰهُ وَاللّٰهُ اَكْبَرُ لَآ اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللّٰهُ وَحْدَهٗ لَآ اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللّٰهُ وَحْدَهٗ لَا شَرِيْكَ لَهٗ لَآ اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللّٰهُ لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ لَآ اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللّٰهُ وَلَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ اِلَّا بِاللّٰهِ

There is no deity except Allah, and Allah is the Greatest. There is no deity except Allah alone. There is no deity except Allah alone; He has no partner. There is no deity except Allah; His is the dominion and His is all praise. There is no deity except Allah, and there is no strength to avoid sin nor power to do good except through the enabling of Allah.

1. Sahih, Sunan at-Tirmidhi, no. (3430), the wording is from it, Sunan Ibn Majah, no. (3794), and al-Albani graded it Sahih in “as-Sahihah” no. (1390).

   Abu Ishaq as-Sabi'i stated clearly that he heard it; see: [at-Tawhid of Ibn Mandah, no. (160), as-Sunan al-Kubra of an-Nasa'i, no. (10108), Musannaf Abd ar-Razzaq, ed. Ayman al-Azhari (3/239) no. (6070)]. So for some to call this narration weak because of the 'an'anah of Abu Ishaq as-Sabi'i is wrong. For further details see: Anwar an-Nasihah (t/3430).
