Supplication at the start of a journey

اَللّٰهُ اَكْبَرُ ، اَللّٰهُ اَكْبَرُ ، اَللّٰهُ اَكْبَرُ ، ﴿ سُبْحَانَ الَّذِيْ سَخَّرَ لَنَا هٰذَا وَمَا كُنَّا لَهٗ مُقْرِنِيْنَ وَاِنَّآ اِلٰى رَبِّنَا لَمُنْقَلِبُوْنَ﴾ اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنَّا نَسْئَلُكَ فِيْ سَفَرِنَا هٰذَا الْبِرَّ وَالتَّقْوٰى وَمِنَ الْعَمَلِ مَا تَرْضٰى اَللّٰهُمَّ هَوِّنْ عَلَيْنَا سَفَرَنَا هٰذَا وَاطْوِ عَنَّا بُعْدَهٗ اَللّٰهُمَّ اَنْتَ الصَّاحِبُ فِي السَّفَرِ وَالْخَلِيْفَةُ فِي الْاَهْلِ اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنِّيْٓ اَعُوْذُ بِكَ مِنْ وَّعْثَآءِ السَّفَرِ وَكَآبَةِ الْمَنْظَرِ وَسُوْءِ الْمُنْقَلَبِ فِي الْمَالِ وَالْاَهْلِ

Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest. Exalted is He who has subjected this (mount) to us, and we could not have [otherwise] subdued it. And indeed we, to our Lord, will [surely] return. O Allah! We ask You on this journey of ours for righteousness, piety and deeds that please You. O Allah! Make this journey of ours easy for us and fold up its distance for us. O Allah! You are (our) Companion on the journey and (You are our) Successor over the family. O Allah! I seek refuge in You from the hardship of travel, (its) distressing sights, and an evil turn of affairs in wealth and family.

On returning from a journey, the Prophet ﷺ would say these same words and add to them:

آيِبُوْنَ تَآئِبُوْنَ عَابِدُوْنَ لِرَبِّنَا حَامِدُوْنَ

(We are) returning, repenting, worshipping, and praising our Lord.
