Dua 4
O Allah! (This is) Your servant, the son of Your maidservant; he has become in need of Your mercy, and You have no need to punish him. If he was a doer of good, increase his good deeds, and if he was a wrongdoer, pass over his misdeeds.
The reciter says “fazid fee hasanaatihi” (his good deeds) instead of “fazid fee ihsaanihi” (his good conduct).
Hasan, al-Mustadrak of al-Hakim (1/359), the wording is his, al-Ahad wa al-Mathani of Ibn Abi Asim, no. (444); al-Hakim graded it sahih, and adh-Dhahabi and al-Albani agreed with him; see: Ahkam al-Jana'iz of al-Albani (page 125).
Yazid bin Rukanah (RA) is a Companion, as Imam al-Hakim stated clearly, so the objection of irsal is not correct. This hadith is also narrated from Abu Hurairah (RA) in almost the same words; see: [Sahih Ibn Hibban, ed. al-Arna'ut (no. 3073)], but there is a difference over whether it is marfu' or mawquf. It appears that it is sahih both ways: Abu Hurairah (RA) sometimes narrated it as marfu' and sometimes as mawquf.
