O Allah! I glorify You with…

Dua 2

O Allah! I glorify You with Your praise; Your name is most blessed, Your majesty is exalted, and there is no deity besides You.

  1. Sahih Mawquf, Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah, ed. ash-Shathri, no. (2408)

This narration is established only as mawquf from some Companions such as Umar (RA). Several narrations present it as marfu', attributed to the Prophet of Allah ﷺ, and Allamah al-Albani (RH) even graded it Sahih as marfu', but the marfu' narrations are all munkar, and munkar narrations do not strengthen one another. Imam Ibn Khuzaymah (RH) (died 311) says:

[Sahih Ibn Khuzaymah (1/237- 239)]

“As for what the common people in Khurasan say at the start of the prayer: “سبحانك اللهم و بحمدك---الخ”, we know of no established, authentic hadith on this from the Prophet ﷺ according to the scholars of hadith. Since it is established as mawquf from Umar al-Faruq (RA), I do not call it disliked; however, the hadith of the Prophet ﷺ narrated with an authentic, connected chain from Ali (RA), Abu Hurairah (RA) and others is dearer to me and better to recite, because following the Prophet ﷺ is superior and his way is better than the way of others”
