Supplication for someone you have insulted or hurt

When, out of human nature, he ﷺ became angry with someone and said harsh words about him, he would then make this supplication for him:

اَللّٰهُمَّ فَاَيُّمَا مُؤْمِنٍ سَبَبْتُهٗ فَاجْعَلْ ذٰلِكَ لَهٗ قُرْبَةً اِلَيْكَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ

O Allah! Any believer whom I have insulted, make that a means of nearness to You for him on the Day of Resurrection.

   The wording of Muslim also has: “Make it purification and mercy for him.”
