Supplication after burying the deceased

اَللّٰهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لَهٗ اَللّٰهُمَّ ثَبِّتْهُ

O Allah! Forgive him. O Allah, keep him firm.

1. These are not the words of the hadith; rather the author wrote these words according to the meaning of the hadith. The hadith is as follows:

   Uthman bin Affan (RA) said that when the Prophet ﷺ finished burying the deceased, he would stand there for a while and say: Ask forgiveness for your brother and pray that he stays firm, for he is now being questioned. [Sunan Abi Dawud, no. (3221), and the hadith is sahih, and al-Albani graded it Sahih in “Ahkam al-Jana'iz”: page 156]
