Dua 1
I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from His anger and His punishment, from the evil of His servants, from the whisperings of the devils (their urging and inciting to sin), and from their (the devils') coming to me (and leading me astray).
Hasan li-ghairihi, Musnad Ahmad (4/57), the wording is his, Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah, ed. ash-Shathri, no. (25145), from the hadith of al-Walid, as-Sunan al-Kubra of an-Nasa'i, no. (10533), 'Amal al-Yawm wa al-Laylah of an-Nasa'i, no. (765), ar-Radd ala al-Jahmiyyah of ad-Darimi (page 175), ad-Du'a' of at-Tabarani (page 333), from the hadith of Abdullah bin Amr, and al-Albani graded it Hasan in “as-Sahihah” no. (264).
The original book has “at-tammat” in place of “at-tammah”, and that is in some narrations, but we have given the wording of Musnad Ahmad because it is in most narrations of the hadith of al-Walid. Both chains of this narration are weak: the hadith of al-Walid is mursal with a sahih chain, and the hadith of Abdullah bin Amr is weak because of the 'an'anah of Ibn Ishaq; but the text given is reported in both, so this hadith is Hasan li-ghairihi. Note that the narration of the hadith of Abdullah bin Amr reported by Imam an-Nasa'i, Imam ad-Darimi and Imam at-Tabarani has only the marfu' part, but some have also reported at the end of this marfu' part, as mawquf, that Abdullah bin Amr (RA) would write this supplication and hang it around the necks of some of his children. Since Ibn Ishaq is alone in narrating this part and narrates it with 'an, this part is not established.
