Dua 4
O Allah! Forgive me what I have done before and what I have done after, what I have done in secret and what I have done openly, what I have done in excess, and what You know better than I do. You are the One who brings forward (each thing to its place) and You are the One who puts back (from it); there is no deity except You.
Sahih Muslim, no. (771), Sunan at-Tirmidhi, no. (3421).
The narration of Muslim, at-Tirmidhi and others states clearly that the Prophet used to say this supplication within the prayer, before the salam. But this very hadith is in Sunan Abi Dawud, no. (760), and it says that he used to say it after the salam. This is a mistake of the narrator; the correct position is what is in Sahih Muslim and others.
