اَعُوْذُ بِاللّٰهِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيْمِ

I seek refuge in Allah from Satan the accursed.

1. Sahih al-Bukhari, no. (6115), Sahih Muslim, no. (2610), Sunan Abi Dawud, no. (4781), Sunan at-Tirmidhi, no. (3452).

   In these four books of hadith, and in several other books of hadith as well, the full wording of seeking refuge (**أَعُوْذُ بِاللَّهِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ**) is present. Likewise the Quran has the words **﴿فَاسْتَعِذْ بِاللَّهِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ﴾** (16/ an-Nahl 98). So the statement of some shaykhs that this wording is established by people's practice rather than by the text of the Quran and hadith is not correct at all.
